Kamahoro Keyla Mirabell, S.2, scooped the first-runners award in the junior category of the public speaking at the World School Debate and Public Speaking Championship 2026 held at United States International University – Africa on 11th May, 2026. The competition is annual event for secondary students organized by African Debate Academy. This year’s edition attracted participation of over seven hundred students from Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Nigeria, South Sudan, Kenya and Uganda.
The team in the public speaking item comprised the following members: Omugabe Ornstein Otakanisibwa S.3, Kamahoro Keyla Mirabell S.2, Nassuuna Catherine Ruth S.1, Uwech Elsie Emily S.1, Kato Philly Wadda S.1 and Mwogeza Pauline S.1. All members of the team made it to the quarter finals.

The debate team were semi-finalists in the gold senior category. The team was constituted of Katusiime Musinguzi Prosper S.5, Kimuli Alpha Lawrence S.5 and Namutebi Jasper Briannah S.5. This performance reflected an improvement. In our team’s maiden participation last year, they were bronze medalists. Our students were ranked among the best speakers in the competition that saw over two hundred students compete in the senior category of debating. Katusiime Musinguzi Prosper was the seventh (7th), Kimuli Alpha Lawrence was ranked thirteenth (13th) and Namutebi Jasper Briannah was ranked twenty sixth (26th).
Our debate team won the best team award from the country of origin.
We heartily thank the school administration for making it possible for the students to get exposed to such learning opportunities. We also appreciate the parents who permitted their children to travel and take part in this contest. We are convinced that these avenues greatly help to hone the abilities of our young people.
