In 1963, the senior class of Burroughs High School in the Beverly Hilton Hotel for their Prom. Then JF Kennedy requested the same room for a fundraiser-and the avenue bumped the prom to accommodate the president. But when JFK heard the mix-up, he let the high school have the ballroom and moved his fundraiser to a few smaller rooms in the Hotel. He even made an appearance at the prom!
Kennedy’s gesture sends a message of the great significance of parties of the like. And indeed great minds think alike. The school administration together with the phenomenal class of 2018 spearheaded the organization of the greatest farewell party, Prom party, leavers’ party-whatever you can call it.
It all happened on 9th June, 2018. The long anticipated day had come at last. Those students that had not got the opportunity to watch the royal wedding of the Dutch and Duchess of Sussex, had at last got a replay. All clad in elegant cultural WEAR, THE S. 6 ladies and gentlemen had mass to bless this memorable day. What really stunned everybody was the “white carpet” event. Spick and span, elegant, fashionable are some of the words that can try unsuccessfully to describe how smart the phenomenal were. The drone cameras in the air, hex ties everywhere and the luxurious décor made the environs really phenomenal that even the famed Naggalama Police had to eavesdrop just to confirm that the queen of England wasn’t present. The black, white and peach theme colors welcomed the elegant brides and grooms into the Fr. Ssempala Hall that was now that looked more of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. This red letter day was perfected by the trio Mcees-Kakule, Basco and Percy- who threw everyone in laughter by their hearty jokes. The dance then came before the dinner session that was candle lit.
I cannot over emphasize the memories that were made on that memorable day-Indeed, some moments should never end because once they are gone, it is difficult to have them back.
What a phenomenal day it was!
